Environmentalists have succeeded in getting the water turned off in the San Joaquin Valley of California so that some little fish won’t be harmed.  How nice for the fish, but how about the thousands of farmers who have to watch their crops dry up because they no longer have the water to irrigate it.  This is another example of how a small percentage of left wing nut balls are controlling the country with no regard with what happens to the rest of us.  Please send this fax to urge your government officials to stop this madness.

It is especially important that all Californians send this fax.

Dear [senators and representatives]

I am appalled and ashamed that our government officials—those that have taken an oath to serve and protect their constituents—are allowing American citizens to suffer!

In the America I grew up in, had someone told me that my elected officials would one day consider a small Delta Smelt more important than the welfare of America’s citizens, I would have told them they were crazy! But—here we are—seeing this very scenario play out before our eyes!

In order to “protect” this small fish, government officials have allowed environmentalists to turn off the valves that provide water to the farmers of the San Joaquin Valley in California. In doing so, hundreds of thousands of American citizens find themselves out of work as once-fertile farmland “dries up and blows away.” Is the nation’s unemployment rate not high enough already?

The farms in the San Joaquin Valley have long been considered the “breadbasket” of the nation—indeed, of the world! Vegetables, fruits, and grains grown in this valley have provided food for centuries—not only for American citizens, but for countries around the world! Now the people that own and/or work these farms are forced to accept food shipped in from China and Mexico—inferior-quality food, I might add (need I remind you of the recent E Coli outbreak caused by lettuce shipped from Mexico and the tainted baby formula coming from China?).

America is experiencing record high unemployment rates! Food prices are already rising! And now, in order to save the Delta Smelt, our government officials are content to allow these farmlands to go fallow—causing hundreds of thousands more Americans to lose their jobs and causing food prices to rise even higher.

I do hope the Delta Smelt “returns the favor” by learning how to vote! Come the next election, the “fish” vote might be the only ones you receive!
